APPLICATION PROCEDURE

All material relevant to your application must reach the competition's Secretariat by 1 March 2011.

Applicants must fill in the electronic application form, print out the form, sign it and send it to the competition’s Secretariat together with the following:
1. A recent demo-tape or CD (DAT or mini-disc will not be accepted). The recording must have good sound quality. The repertoire must include the two operatic arias that you choose on your application form, of contrasting styles and with piano accompaniment (NB not orchestral). Total length approx. 10 minutes.
2. The recording must be certified for authenticity by a qualified person (such as a teacher or audio engineer).
3. A certified copy of the applicant’s passport (stamped by an official institution).

5. A receipt for the transaction of EUR 80. The applicant must pay bank charges him/herself.
We are unable to return the material that you send in with your application.

In order for the application to be valid, a fee of EUR 80 must be transferred directly to the Competition’s bank account. The full amount must be deposited in the competition’s bank account by the application deadline of 1 March 2009. NB: cheques will not be accepted.

Application screening: Applications and demo recordings will be evaluated by a national screening jury.
Acceptance of applicants: Successful candidates will be notified in the early part of June 2009. The applicant must thereafter confirm his or her participation in the competition by transferring EUR 125 to the competition’s bank account, whereupon s/he automatically becomes an official participant. Half of this amount will be returned to the participant on arrival in Oslo.


PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Accommodation
Participants are offered free hotel accommodation as long as they are in the competition.

Flights
The participants must book and pay their own flights to and from Oslo.

Practice facilities
The organisers will offer all participants practice facilities at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

Accompanists
The competition will provide accompanists for participants in the preliminaries and semi-finals of the Competition. Participants who wish to use their own accompanists may do so, but at their own expense. This also includes costs for accommodation and flights.

Recording rights
The Queen Sonja International Music Competition reserves the right to authorise sound and visual recordings of the competition. The competition will hold the copyright to any such recordings, and any income arising from them will accrue to the competition.
