The Queen Sonja International Music Competition takes place every other year in Oslo for singers from all over the world. The main goal of the competition is to assist the career development of talented young singers. Winners receive significant prize money, opera and concert engagements and, not least, exposure to an enthusiastic audience on stage and in the media. The competition collaborates, amongst others, with Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Norwegian Academy of Music, Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Musical America recently recommended The Queen Sonja International Music Competition in the category "High Level Competitions". They point to the highly distinguished international jury and concert engagements for the top three winners with leading Norwegian orchestras as particularly attractive aspects of the competition.
The next competition will take place in Oslo between 14th and 29th August 2013. The opening date for applications is 1st February 2013 and the application deadline is 1st April 2013. Applications are welcome from all singers born after 1 January 1981.
